In 2015, the United Nations agreed on a plan to solve some of the world's biggest problems: 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be achieved by 2030. Sustainability isn't just about environmental sustainability. The aim of the goals include ending poverty, improving access to education and reducing inequality as well as fighting climate change. Ultimately, the plan is to create a society that meets human needs while protecting nature and the natural systems upon which life depends. You can find out more on the UN's website.
At the Medway campus, the three universities (Greenwich, Kent and Canterbury Christ Church) are collaborating, helping deliver the SDGs through our teaching, learning and research, and by making sustainable choices every day. This year, we are running a campaign and everyone can get involved. Come along to talks and exhibits, enter competitions and discover what you can do. Keep an eye on this page and follow us our social media channels for more details and to see what you're interested in. Join in via #MedwaySDGs on Twitter and Instagram, and tell us what the SDGs mean to you. We can all make a real difference!
