UK Research Councils
The following information is relevant to UK and EU postgraduate students.
The UK Research Councils support postgraduate training and research by providing UK candidates with tuition fees and a maintenance grant.
Non-UK residents from the EU can apply for tuition fee only awards; non-EU residents are not eligible to apply.
Candidates must apply via their university. Universities usually have their own internal deadlines that must be met in order for forms to be submitted before the Research Councils' deadlines (usually 1 May). The awards are highly competitive, so early application is encouraged.
There are a number of different Research Councils in the UK, each supporting different fields of study. Click on the links below to find out more.
