University Teaching Fellow

Peter's PhD and subsequent research on migration and race was supported by numerous awards including those from the (then) UK Social Science Research Council, the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (Paris), and the British Academy. His pedagogic project on critical thinking ('Teaching and Learning at the Environment-Science-Society Interface') was funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England, to the tune of approximately £270,000. Most recently he has attracted two smaller University awards on behalf of the 'Greenwich Futures' research group.

• Migration and race: currently focusing on linguistic diversity and the politics of language, with particular reference to the London Boroughs of Newham and Tower Hamlets.
• (In)security, the 'risk society' and 'futures studies': currently including population ageing.
• Critical thinking and academic writing in the 'intercultural university'.
