Key details
Anushka Athique Winterbottom
Landscape Architecture Postgraduate Programme Leader
Anushka Athique (she/her) is a landscape architect, researcher, educator, artist and mother.
She is drawn to investigating the discipline of Landscape Architecture from an experiential perspective; finding the moments when the human body meets the temporal qualities of landscape and seeing how these liminal actions and processes can create functional spaces that expose issues of identity, belonging and equity.
This has been informed through an earlier Masters degree in Scenography which led to working within the public arts as a theatre designer and scenographer. Her work focused on providing opportunities where the public/audience can could a dialogue with their everyday surroundings. This was done through workshops and performances across the UK and internationally.
In 2013 Anushka retrained as a Landscape Architect where she continued to explore performative relationships with the Landscape.
Anushka is a PhD candidate at the University of Greenwich (UoG), an External Examiner at Newcastle University, and member of the Research Centre for Spatial and Digital Ecologies (UoG).
