Dr Olusegun A Olalere
Lecturer in Chemical Engineering
Dr Olalere Olusegun is a researcher and lecturer in Chemical Engineering at the University of Greenwich, United Kingdom, with over seven years of interdisciplinary experience. His research interests include Integrated Biorefineries/ Downstream Bioprocessing, Sustainable Biotechnology, New Food Development, Disruptive Green Chemistry, Process Intensification and Optimisation. He earned his Ph.D. in 2018 from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), Malaysia, specializing in Sustainable Bioprocessing for new product development. Dr Olusegun is a recipient of the prestigious Doctoral Scholarship Scheme and has been recognized with the GoT award for his outstanding achievements.
Dr Olalere Olusegun brings a wealth of experience as a postdoctoral researcher, academic, and visiting fellow. From August 2019 to January 2023, he contributed significantly at the Analytical Biochemistry Research Centre, Inkubator Inovasi Universiti (I2U), Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang. Following this, Dr Olalere joined the University of Bath, UK, as a Research Associate (January 2023–July 2024), where he led ground breaking work on developing novel foods from unconventional sources. A key contributor to the prestigious Global Talent-BBSRC-funded ‘Pasture to Plate (P2P)’ project (BB/W018012/1), Dr Olalere focused on transforming grass and silage into nutritious, edible fractions through targeted mechanochemical processing and innovative biotechnology. This cutting-edge research aims to promote healthier, affordable food alternatives while enhancing the resilience and sustainability of UK agriculture.
Dr Olalere Olusegun is a researcher with over 100 impactful publications, including research papers, books, and book chapters, all indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. His ground breaking work focuses on transforming food and fruit wastes into novel foods and nutricosmetic products using cutting-edge mechanochemical processing and extrusion technologies. Driven by a passion for solving global challenges, He combines innovation and knowledge to deliver impactful solutions that benefit society.
