Dr Nadarajah Ramesh
Associate Professor in Statistics
Nadarajah Ramesh is an Associate Professor in the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences. He studied and worked at Imperial College London and University of Oxford, as a researcher and consulting officer, before joining Greenwich. His teaching has covered a wide range of areas in Statistics, Probability, Actuarial Mathematics and Computer programming.
Dr Ramesh's research work has been centred around the area of stochastic modelling with likelihood approach for environmental applications, particularly in hydrology and health informatics. He collaborates with researchers at Imperial College London on the topic of stochastic point process models with environmental application, especially on rainfall modelling as well as the application of extremes and other stochastic models in this area.

Research / Scholarly interests
Dr Ramesh’s recent research work has a focus on developing stochastic point process models for fine-scale rainfall. Another area of development in his stochastic modelling work is to provide additional dependencies in Hidden Markov models and explore their application in the modelling of regional rainfall and flood studies. His other area of research interest is on time series analysis and forecasting. He has also been interested in developing stochastic models with applications in biostatistics and health informatics, especially on predictive modelling in health sciences.
In addition, he continues with his pedagogical research on teaching and learning to contribute to the advancement of technology enhanced learning in Mathematical Sciences.
Key funded projects
Principal investigator of a Teaching Development Grant (TDG) from the Higher Education Academy (HEA) for the project "Enhancing Employability Skills through Advanced Skills Workshops and greater engagement with Professional Bodies and Industries". Funded £30,000 by HEA for the £60,000 project on match funding basis.
Co-investigator of a KTP project on "Predictive analysis of pressure in health economies" funded by Innovate UK (Project Total £213,000).
