Key details
Dr Moslem Sheikhkhoshkar
Lecturer in Digital Construction
Dr Moslem Sheikhkhoshkar joined the Faculty of Engineering and Science in February 2025 as a lecturer in digital construction. His research focuses on BIM, digital construction, construction automation, digital twins, and AI-driven solutions for improving construction processes. Before this, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Nancy Automation Research Centre (CRAN) Lab in France, where he worked on synchronizing off-site and on-site construction logistics using digital twins.
He holds a PhD in Automatic Control and Computer Engineering from the University of Lorraine, CRAN lab, France, focusing on construction automation. His academic journey also includes a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s in construction engineering and management from Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST).
Moslem is an active researcher, publishing in esteemed Q1 and Q2 journals such as Automation in Construction, Journal of Construction Engineering and Management (ASCE), and Production Planning & Control, among others. He also contributes to the research community by serving as a reviewer for more than 20 high-quality journals and conferences.
He is keen to bridge the gap between academia and industry by maintaining strong connections with industry professionals, identifying real-world challenges, and developing research-driven solutions. He is also actively involved in securing national and international funding, working on research proposals for programs such as Horizon Europe, EPSRC, and Innovate UK.
In teaching, Moslem has designed and delivered modules on digital construction, covering BIM, construction simulation, lean construction, and data science applications. Additionally, he is a member of the editorial board for the Smart and Sustainable Built Environment (SASBE) journal.
