Lecturer in Built Environment

Dr Ayomikun Adewumi joined the Faculty of Engineering and Science as a Lecturer in Built Environment in April 2022. Previously, he worked at London South Bank University as a lecturer in the School of Built environment and Architecture and within the apprenticeship team as an Apprenticeship Skills Reviewer.

Dr Adewumi holds a doctorate degree in Architecture at University of Dundee, UK. The thesis explored the characteristics of the Indicators of a Sustainability Assessment Framework for Neighbourhood Development in Metropolitan Lagos. During his doctoral study, he completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice in Higher Education (PGCAPHE). Prior to this, he had both Bachelor of Technology (BTech) and Master of Technology (MTech) degrees in Architecture at the Federal University of Technology Akure, Nigeria.

To date, he has published in academic journals and presented in conferences and workshops.

Responsibilities within the university

Dr Adewumi teaches the following modules:

  • BUIL1059- Sustainable & Healthy Building
  • BUIL1249- Construction Technology
  • BUIL1254 – Environmental & Passive Design Systems
  • BUIL1289 – Sustainability Assessment Methods for the Built Environment
  • RESE1134- Research Methods

Other responsibilities include:

  • School of Engineering Link Tutor to London South East Colleges
  • Personal Tutoring
  • Dissertation Supervision at both UG and PG levels

Awards

  • 2015 Dean’s International Student scholarship worth £2000 per year for PhD student at University of Dundee
  • 2012 Ekiti State Government of Nigeria Scholarship awards for exceptional postgraduate students
  • 2011 Federal Government of Nigeria Scholarship award for postgraduate students.
