Suzy Hails
Senior Teaching Fellow in Primary Education
Suzy has been a Senior Teaching Fellow in Primary Education since April 2023.
Suzy began her career in education as a Teaching Assistant in a number of primary schools working mostly with children with SEND. During this time, Suzy completed a BA in Early Years Education at the University of Greenwich and subsequently trained as a primary school teacher on a School Direct route.
As a teacher, Suzy worked across all phases in a large primary school in Kent where she taught mostly in Key Stage 1. Here, she held various leadership roles including phonics and early reading, science and took a lead on staff wellbeing.
Suzy teaches across the Primary Education with QTS, Primary Education Studies, and Primary PGCE programmes. Early reading, phonics and music are her specialisms and she has a particular interest in children’s mental health within literacy development. Suzy has a keen interest in mental health and wellbeing and holds a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. Suzy will be studying for her MA in Philosophy of Education from September 2023.
