Noel Hargrave MA, Dip, Cert.

Senior Teaching Fellow in Counselling

Noel joined the School of Human Sciences at the University of Greenwich as Senior Teaching Fellow in Counselling in August 2020.

He previously worked as Head of Training and Counselling for The Counselling Foundation, a provider of BACP accredited counselling courses.

His professional interests are counselling and psychotherapy, trauma and integrative psychotherapy.

2015 – 2020 Clinical Director (Head of Training and Counselling) – The Counselling Foundation St Albans

Combined responsibility for all clinical decisions across the counselling and training functions.
Leadership of clinical services, strategic development and responsibility for clinical standards and the management and wellbeing of staff. This includes the delivery counselling sessions p.a. across NHS IAPT contracts and other counselling services, training students on BACP accredited counselling courses, and consultancy services with organisations to assist in developing and supporting their mental health strategy. Various teaching on BACP accredited courses as required.

2013 – 2015 Clinical Operations Manager - CiC (CNLR Horizons Ltd) London

CiC is a company providing employee assistance programmes and psychological services to the public, private and charity sectors. Noel was responsible for oversight of clinical operations including complex case escalations from the case management and assessment team, QMS and clinical policy and procedures, clinical cost management, monthly management reporting, training and support for the clinical team, critical incident management and supporting account managers regarding sales presentations, implementations and review meetings

2010 – 2013 Team Leader - BUPA (Psychological Services) London

This role included oversight and operational management of clinical services with a focus on the employee assistance programme. Managing the clinical assessment team and affiliate network, high risk, complex cases, counselling referrals, critical incident response, and quality management. Typically, the service received an average of one hundred client calls a day, generating a significant case load. This also included interfacing with other areas of the business, including OH, HR, and business development. In addition, Noel completed various projects including configuration and implementation of a new case management database.

Responsibilities within the university

Teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the areas of Counselling. Contribute to the delivery of existing teaching, course development, and pedagogical/professional activity carried out in the School including revalidation of programmes:

  • Influence significantly the design and delivery of teaching activities,
  • Engage in professional practice across the subject area and contribute to the profile of the School and Faculty
  • Support the delivering of the student experience.

Recognition

UKCP registered Member - Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy College (HIPC), member of the EMDR association UK. Member of the CCPE (Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education).
