Nathan Cusack MSc, PGCertHE, BSc(hons), FdSc

Senior Lecturer

As an early career researcher, Nathan has a passion to develop research regarding paramedic practice. He is currently working on a Professional Doctorate, looking at the physical requirements of paramedics in the UK. In December 2024, Nathan conducted a funded (£5,647.94) study, as part of a team,  analysing anaesthetists' biomechanics during kit preparation for intubation, identifying key movement patterns and ergonomic impacts through video analysis. Nathan investigated and documented errors during kit deployment, comparing performance and error rates between SCRAM and STAR Roll systems to inform best practices and improve clinical efficiency. In May 2022, Nathan conducted a collaborative experimental study, with a fellow researcher, to look at a new patient lifting device (Raizer Chair) for use in out-of-hospital environments for an external company (Felgains Ltd). This case write up has been utilised by Felgains Ltd as evidence to recommend the use of said lifting device.

Nathan holds professional affiliations and qualifies as a Fellowship of the HEA [FHEA] status.
