Dr Nicola MacLeod
Principal Lecturer Tourism, Departmental Head of Research and Director of Tourism Research Centre
Dr Nicola (Nikki) MacLeod joined the University of Greenwich in 2001 and has been a tourism academic since 1993. During this period, she has taught extensively, contributed to the development of new programmes, provided external examiner support to a number of institutions both in the UK and overseas and published widely.
She gained her Masters in English Language and Literature from the University of Edinburgh in 1998 and her PG Masters in Leisure and Tourism Policy from Moray House School of Education, University of Edinburgh in 1990.
Nikki is Principal Lecturer in Tourism within the University's Marketing, Events and Tourism Department. She also has departmental responsibility for research and is Director of the Tourism Research Centre within the Business Faculty.

Research / Scholarly interests
Nikki's research interests lie within the cultural dimensions of tourism and, in particular, the ways in which artistic representations have shaped the narrative of tourist space. Her publications have explored the role of routes and trails in the creation and experience of tourist settings and this was also the focus of Nikki's PhD thesis. More recently she has been researching the relationships between literary fiction and tourism practice.
