Dr. Muhammad Arsalan Nazir currently works as a Lecturer (Academic & Research) in Entrepreneurship at the Executive Business Centre, Greenwich Business School, University of Greenwich, London. Through student-centered, globally informed, and practice-based pedagogies, Dr. Nazir aims to inspire and empower future students in business management, entrepreneurship, marketing, and international business. His mission is to promote technological entrepreneurship and innovation to drive economic and social impact globally.


He previously worked as an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship and Marketing in the Faculty of Marketing and Entrepreneurship Group (Research and Teaching) at Bahria Business School, Bahria University, Islamabad, Pakistan. Dr. Nazir has also worked as a faculty member in Entrepreneurship at NUST Business School (NBS), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan, and collaborated with Principal Investigators (PIs) on various Research & Development (R&D) projects at the Suleman Dawood School of Business, Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan.


Dr. Nazir holds a PhD in Business Studies with a specialization in Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Small Business Management from the University of Teesside Business School, UK. He also obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) as a teaching qualification from the University of Greenwich, London, UK. He earned an MBA in General Management from Cardiff Metropolitan University - Cardiff School of Management, and a Master of Science (MSc) in Marketing and Business Management from the University of Bedfordshire School of Business, UK. He is currently a candidate for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation in the United States.


He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) of the UK and has been awarded a certificate as a Certified Management and Business Educator (CMBE) by the Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS), UK, in recognition of his extensive work and contributions to business schools. Additionally, he is an approved PhD supervisor by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.


With over a decade of experience spanning both academia and industry, including working as a business development and marketing executive in a London-based financial firm, Dr. Nazir has developed expertise in management, marketing, and business development across both developed and emerging markets. His teaching and research focus on advancing entrepreneurship and innovation in small business management, entrepreneurial finance, entrepreneurial marketing, and the technological capabilities of entrepreneurial firms, particularly in South Asia, using cutting-edge methodologies. He takes pride in a strong record of teaching, research, and training, with publications and presentations at prestigious international conferences and CABS UK journals.


In collaboration with colleagues from the UK, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, his published works have appeared in the Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development, International Review of Entrepreneurship, Qualitative Market Research, Innovation and Development, British Academy of Management, among others. He also holds an editor-in-chief position at an entrepreneurship journal and serves as an editorial board member for a business analytics journal. Additionally, he is a reviewer for several prestigious journals, including European Management Review, Qualitative Market Research, International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, International Journal of Emerging Markets, Journal of Enterprise Information Management, and Journal of Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies, among others.


Dr. Nazir welcomes collaboration with researchers in his field and is currently accepting PhD students who are interested in entrepreneurship and innovation in small business management, entrepreneurial marketing in entrepreneurial firms, the effects of emerging technologies (such as AI, machine learning, and robotics) on SMEs, and blockchain-driven digital innovations for financial inclusion and business growth.

As a module leader, personal tutor, and supervisor, Dr. Nazir has designed, supervised, and delivered a diverse range of postgraduate and undergraduate courses for the International Business Management, MBA, and Executive MBA programs. Some of the modules he has taught include:

Dr. Nazir is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in the UK and has earned the Certified Management and Business Educator (CMBE) certification from the Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS), UK, in recognition of his significant contributions to business schools. Additionally, he is an approved PhD supervisor by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.
During his career, Dr. Nazir was recognized as a finalist in the Professional Challenges, an achievement he considers one of his major accomplishments from the MSc course at the University of Bedfordshire, for which he received a certificate of recognition.

Administration - Committee Member

  • At the University of Greenwich, UK, I was involved in the BAME Awarding Gap Project, where I worked to address the disparity in the awarding of 1st/2:1 degrees between White UK students and their BAME counterparts. Collaborating with other schools, I helped identify contributing factors and implemented strategies to reduce the gap.
  • As the program module and cohort leader for the new MBA Global Program at the Executive Business Centre, I developed and standardized the module contents for large cohorts (over 400 students) in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Sales and Marketing. I worked closely with other tutors to prepare and lead the module for teaching and supervision.
  • At Bahria University Business School, Islamabad, Pakistan I was a member of the Departmental Research Committee (DRC), where I oversaw research activities and facilitated collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, I served on the Departmental Board of Studies (DBOS), where I proposed new courses and modules in the entrepreneurship and marketing cluster to meet industry demands.
  • I was also a member of the Postgraduate Research Committee (PGR) at Bahria University, reviewing PhD and master’s theses and submitting detailed reports on the research quality.
  • I contributed to the organizing committee for the 3rd International Conference on Emerging Challenges for Organizations in Developing Economies (ECODE III) held at Bahria University.

Research / Scholarly interests

Dr. Nazir is a member of the University of Greenwich’s Business research centre, The Centre for Political Economy, Governance, Finance, and Accountability (PEGFA), as well as the Pedagogic Research Special Interest Group, where he collaborates with colleagues in related disciplines as an expert.


Dr. Nazir is open to collaborating with fellow researchers and is currently accepting PhD students who are interested in topics such as entrepreneurship and innovation in small business management, entrepreneurial marketing, the impact of emerging technologies (such as AI, machine learning, and robotics) on SMEs, and blockchain-based digital innovations for financial inclusion and business growth.
