Dr Shazerinna Zainal Osman Shah PhD, MSc, FHEA, PGCert HEA
Lecturer in Financial Accounting
Dr Shazerinna Zainal Osman Shah is a Lecturer in Financial Accounting at the University of Greenwich and the Deputy Programme Leader for the MSc Accounting and Finance (September cohort). She is also the Module Leader for:
- International Financial Accounting and Reporting (Postgraduate)
- International Assurance (Postgraduate)
- Fundamentals for Accounting and Finance (Extended)
She earned her PhD from Cardiff University, where her research examined the impact of CEO-board cultural similarity on firm valuation and board monitoring effectiveness.
As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Shazerinna is committed to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment through effective teaching practices. She holds two MSc degrees—an MSc in Accounting and Finance (Distinction) and an MSc in Social Science Research Methods (Distinction).
Shazerinna has extensive cross-cultural teaching and research experience in both the UK and Malaysia. She previously worked as a Lecturer in Accounting at Universiti Teknologi MARA, one of Malaysia’s leading universities.
Before transitioning into academia, she gained industry experience in accounting, having worked at a multinational oil and gas company as well as in an audit firm. She is highly proficient in quantitative data analysis using Stata, EViews, and R. Additionally, she has expertise in managing financial databases such as Thomson ONE, DataStream, WRDS, Compustat, Capital IQ, BoardEx, and Bloomberg.
