Dr Gary Brown
Associate Dean of Student Success
Gary has worked in HE for over 20 years. Before joining Greenwich Business School as Associate Dean Student Success, he spent the early part of his career at Edge Hill University, where he was Programme Leader and Senior Lecturer, later moving to the University of Liverpool Management School in 2011, having completed his PhD there. Whilst at Liverpool, he was Director of Studies for the capstone BA Business Management programme, revamping the curriculum, introducing pedagogic innovation, and enhancing student community and programme identity.
Having embedded significant change to the BA Business Management programme, and following School and Faculty teaching awards, Gary moved into a Director of Education role, leading teaching and learning across his subject group. In 2018, he was appointed Director of Online (later extended to Online and Innovation), leading the School’s market leading online provision through a period of significant change, successfully transitioning high volumes of PGT students, maintaining a high quality student experience, whilst at the same time leading the development of an extensive new portfolio of online programmes.
Gary’s research, building on his PhD thesis, focuses on community and identity with recent work centring on the importance of personal imprint and good judgement in delivering university education.
