Charlie Tennant
Head of Business Operations
Charlie has many years’ experience working in Higher Education in both private and public HE providers. Charlie has been with the University of Greenwich since 2014, starting as a partnerships officer for the Business School, working with partners in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Zambia and more, before the taking up his first management post in 2017, leading a multi-functional team in the Business School, looking after partnerships, academic standards, academic planning, examination organisation, data compliance and virtual learning environments.
In 2019 he moved into jointly leading the University’s central Quality Assurance team. He led the team through two organisational changes, reviewed the University’s programme approval and review procedures, led several high-level systems projects relating to Quality Assurance, led on progression and awards during the COVID-19 pandemic and acted as secretary to the University’s Programme Approval Committee.
In 2021, Charlie took up his current post as Head of Business Operations in the Greenwich Business School. Along the way, Charlie has pursued academic qualifications, including his BSc (Hons) Business, and his now almost complete Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA). In addition to the day-job, Charlie teaches strategy to undergraduate students, and is passionate about organisational change, leadership, and strategy development.
Responsibilities within the university
Charlie is responsible for all student and staff-facing professional services in the Greenwich Business School with a team of circa 30 staff, from the Programme Administration Team and Student Helpdesk to the MBA Placements Team and Executive Support Team.
Charlie also leads on health and safety, space and estates projects in the Business School, and acts as deputy to the Faculty Operating Officer in their absence.
