The most efficient way to access any online resources is to go directly to it. It sounds obvious, but if you only need to access resources within the Portal, go to the Portal.
Don't use the staffdesktop platform unless you need to access files or resources not available directly from a browser interface. It means you get a faster direct connection and leaves the staffdesktop platform available for those that need it.
