Undergraduate or Postgraduate students with low household income can apply for financial assistance of up to £200 one off to support with energy bill this winter.
The University of Greenwich wishes to support students from low-income families who are struggling with the Cost of Living by supporting them with cash payment towards their energy bill. The Energy Bill Support is funded by our Greenwich Hardship Fund and there are a capped number of awards.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible for the Energy Bill Support you will need to meet the following criteria:
- You are a fully registered new (year 0 or 1) home student at the University of Greenwich starting in September 2024 or January 2025.
- You are studying at one of our campuses (Greenwich / Avery Hill / Medway).
- A UK National or an EU National with the full maintenance loan from Student Finance England (or equivalent) and are fully income assessed tom demonstrate a household income of £25,000 or less.
- If you are studying a postgraduate course, you will receive a postgraduate loan and you have a clear plan for paying your course costs.
- Applicants must provide a copy of the energy Bill (Gas & Electricity) in their name
- Only available to non- residents of University of Greenwich Halls
You must also consent to share information with the University to verify your entitlement for the Energy Bill Support.
How to apply
Due to the high volume of applications, assessments may take up to 28 days. Applications submitted on or after 4th December 2024 will not be reviewed until after the University reopens in January 2025.
The University will be closed from 5:00 PM on Wednesday, 20th December 2024, and will resume operations at 9:00 AM on Thursday, 2nd January 2025.

Applicants must provide supporting evidence relative to their circumstances as per the student checklist.
The Greenwich Hardship Fund and supporting bursaries will open from the 28th of October 2024 until the end of May 2025 or until all funds are allocated for the 2024/25.
