Notes on undergraduate fees
Regulated fees for home students: The University commits to charging fees at a level no higher than the maximum regulated fee rates set by the UK Government and intends to set its fee at that maximum level. The UK Government has announced changes to tuition fees and maintenance support for 2025/26 academic year, setting the tuition fee cap at £9,535. The measures are designed to both support students’ cost of living pressures and improve higher education providers’ financial sustainability.
The rates above, applicable to continuing and new students, from September 2025 onwards, who have been assessed by the University as eligible to pay tuition fees at the home fee rate. The university reserves the right to charge for any additional courses or credits and amend the fee due where necessary after you have completed online registration.
- All undergraduate full-time fees of are based on a standard 120-credit programme of study, unless stated otherwise.
- For full-time undergraduates, the fees the current annual fee is £9,535, unless otherwise stated.
- The part-time fees of £7,145 only apply to students assessed to pay tuition fees at the home rate. Part-time students can study towards a maximum of 90 credits in an academic year.
- Reduction in chargeable tuition fees for classroom-based foundation years courses from £9,250 to £5,760 (£3,490 reduction) in effect from September 2025.
- All fees above are subject to an annual fee-setting exercise and will rise annually in line with the RPI-X (Retail Price Index excluding mortgage interest payments) subject to the maximum regulated fee rates set by the UK Government. This does not apply to students studying in the Medway School of Pharmacy.
- For undergraduates at the Medway School of Pharmacy who are paying fees at the home rate, tuition fees are subject to an annual fee-setting exercise and will rise annually by no more than RPI plus 3% except where regulated.
- A significant number of our undergraduate courses for home students are charged at the current maximum allowed fee of £9,535. The new fees will be applicable to all new and continuing students from September 2025.
- Students categorised as studying an equivalent or lower qualification may be charged a higher tuition fee rate than the standard published rates.
- Students who are assessed as international fee payers undertaking Erasmus+ and Study Abroad are not eligible for a tuition fee reduction and will pay the usual fee rate for their course.

Notes on Master's fees
- The rates above, applicable to students who have been assessed by the University as eligible to pay tuition fees at the home fee rate, are subject to ratification at Finance Committee. The university reserves the right to charge for any additional courses or credits and amend the fee due where necessary after you have completed online registration.
- Home fees for postgraduate taught courses and the MSc by Research (Science or Psychology) are subject to annual increases of no more than RPI-X (the Retail Price Index excluding mortgage interest payments) plus 3%.
- We will only consider an increase to the fee rate for continuing students if it reflects the increased cost of delivering the programme in subsequent years.
- Part-time fees above apply only to Home fee paying students.
- The part-time fees charged will depend on the number of credits you are required and permitted to study per academic year. These will be subject to annual fee increases as outlined above.
- Students starting courses in later years will pay the published fee for new entrants to the relevant academic year and will be subject to the published arrangements for that year.
- Students categorised as studying for an equivalent or lower qualification may be charged higher fees than the standard published rates.
Notes on research fees
- Home fees for postgraduate research courses (MPhil, PhD, Master's by Research) are subject to an annual fee-setting exercise and will rise annually in line with the fees set by UK Research and Innovation.
- Any increase to the tuition fee rate for continuing students reflects the increased cost of delivering the programme in subsequent years.
- Students should contact the Research & Enterprise Training Institute for information on the length for these programmes. Bench fees will also be charged for some programmes. Contact the faculty in which you plan to study to discuss this.
- Full year tuition fees will be charged where students start in September, and pro-rata fees charged for students who commence study between October and August at the beginning of year one. For subsequent years of study starting from the following September , full year fees will be charged for the full academic year.

Notes on MSc by Research (Science / Psychology)
- Fees for the MSc by Research (Science / Psychology) are subject to an annual fee-setting exercise and will rise annually by no more than RPI-X (Retail Price Index excluding mortgage interest payments) plus 3%.
- Full-time fees are to be paid at the beginning of year one.
- Part-time students must pay the annual advertised fee in year one and a further fee in year two.
- Further fees may be required if you need to repeat certain parts of the course or if you add additional credits.
