Read&Write Gold
Read & Write Gold is a literacy support tool designed to assist users of all ages who require extra assistance when reading or composing text. The software reads aloud electronic content including documents and web pages and email. In addition, it provides a host of study features to assist any user with research and composition. Inspiration
Inspiration is a powerful visual thinking and learning tool that students can use to plan, research and complete projects. The software is easy to use and will particularly appeal to those who already use mind maps to plan or employ visual learning strategies. Learn more about Inspiration.
Dragon Naturally Speaking
A speech to text software. The software performs three main functions: converting spoken words into written text through voice recognition in dictation, understanding and executing spoken commands, and converting text into speech by reading aloud the content of a document.

Height Adjustable Tables
There are height adjustable tables located on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors of Stockwell Street Library. (Please ask a member of staff to assist with raising or lowering the height of the table).
These tables have a blue triangular sign.
Devices to assist with visual impairment
Desktop Video Magnifier.
For help with viewing documents. This device can enlarge between x3 and x75 magnification. Settings include colour (perfect for viewing images) and black and white. Easily control the magnification and the brightness of what you are reading. The Video Magnifier is located on the 1st floor of Stockwell Street Library.
Large Key keyboard.
Available with White or Yellow keys. These keyboards can be plugged into any PC/MAC using the USB connector. You do not have to unplug the existing keyboard. Ask at the Stockwell Street Library Welcome Desk if you would like to use one of these keyboards, or email in advance at mglsastaff@gre.ac.uk
Assistive listening devices
Infra red loops
These work with hearing aids and can be adapted for use with headphones. For use in the lecture theatres in Stockwell Street Building 11. (11_0003 and 11_0004) They work by receiving an infra-red signal from the front of the hall. The battery lasts around 12 hours. You will need a library account to borrow it.
Portable 1 to 1 induction loop
These work only with hearing aids with a 'T' setting. This loop has a range of approximately 1.2 meters and a battery life of four hours (perfect for use in our bookable group study rooms). Available from Stockwell Street Library Welcome Desk.
