Your mentoring questions answered
How does it work?
Our Career Mentoring Programme is an integral part of our employability service, creating a bridge that connects experienced individuals, like our alumni and employer partners with passionate students.
Once you join the programme, you will be matched to a mentee through our Ask Alumni+ platform. Matches are made based on responses provided during registration, and are cross-checked by the team.
During your time on the programme, you will have access to support and training from the Career Mentoring team along with further resources from Ask Alumni+.
The programme runs from January - June, with applications open from September - October. You will have 1-4 hours of contact time per month with your mentee either virtually or in-person.
What will I get out of the programme?
Our Career Mentoring Programme brings a number of benefits including:
- Social Responsibility: You will be able to give something back and be the role model you would have wanted!
- Industry Expertise: Share your persona/industry expertise and experiences with the next generation
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: Have the opportunity to support EDI in your industry
- Leadership Skills: Build your skills and competencies as a leader or advisor
- Reverse Mentoring: Gain insights from mentees on their lived experiences, academic learning and get a glimpse of early career talent

Discovery Days
What is a Discovery Day?
A Discovery Day is a half-day event that allows students to visit your workplace and learn more about your organisation, your industry, and the range of roles available within your company.
What are the benefits?
- The chance to showcase your company culture and values
- The opportunity to access and engage with a pool of diverse and talented students
- The ability to showcase the skills and qualities you're looking for in employees
- Access fresh perspectives and innovative ideas whilst enhancing your organisation's reputation
What are we asking from you?
After agreeing to deliver a Discovery Day for our students, it'll be over to you to bring it to life! You'll design the programme within the agreed timeline, ensuring the day is interactive, insightful, and inspiring.
How can we help you?
We specialise in supporting employers to deliver successful Discovery Days. We will work with you to develop a tailored programme that meets your goals, and we will recruit a group of students to attend the day (up to 20 or 30).
