Your mentoring questions answered
How does it work?
The University offers different types of mentoring programmes:
- University of Greenwich Career Mentoring Programme - this is our main programme with a large range of mentors from partners and Alumni.
- Graduate Aspiration Programme (strictly providing mentors from across the Civil Service)
- 1 Hour Project - An all year round short Career Mentoring opportunity.
- Oracle Career Mentoring Programme (School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences students only)
The University of Greenwich Career Mentoring Programme is available to students from all faculties, you can apply throughout your time at university, and up to two years post-graduation. During your time on the programme, you can expect to gain professional advice and insight through one to one and small group mentorship, first-hand industry knowledge, an extra boost of confidence and connections to kickstart your career.
One to one Career Mentoring is continuing this year. The programme runs across the academic year ending in June with the first meeting expected to take place by January. Applications open from September to December. You will have 1-4 hours of contact time per month with your mentor either virtually or in-person.
Group mentoring is a new feature and will have one mentor to 3 mentees across three sessions (virtually or in person). The 3 sessions allow for those with limited time to still benefit from the vast network of mentors in a shorter time period.
Applications open from September to December.

Discovery Days
A Discovery Day is a half-day event that allows you to visit and connect with an employer at their workplace, get an insight into their industry and gain valuable experience.
Keep an eye out on your student email to hear more about upcoming Discovery Days. You can also email the Placements team at employability@gre.ac.uk for more.
Events
There are multiple events that take place throughout the year, including flagship events and sector-focused ones. In the past we've had flagship Careers Fairs and panel discussions which bring employers and students together under one roof.
