We are committed to supporting students from a variety of backgrounds. As part of this commitment, the Accommodation bursary offers up to £700, equivalent to up to 10% accommodation fee discount to reduce the rent for your first-year accommodation.

Am I eligible?

You will be offered an accommodation bursary based on the following criteria:

  • You are a new student entering year 0 or 1 of your undergraduate studies from September 2024
  • You are residing in any of the university’s halls of residences and are up to date with all payments
  • You are a fully-registered domestic/home undergraduate student at the University of Greenwich.
  • You'll be studying a BA, BEd, BSc, LLB, BEng, MEng or MMath course.

You'll be studying at Greenwich, Avery Hill or Medway Campus (except Medway School of Pharmacy) or one of our Partner Colleges where your tuition fee is paid directly to us.

  • You are assessed to pay fees at the home rate at over £6,165 per year.
  • You have or will be awarded the ‘Standard Greenwich Bursary’ and have applied for and accepted the maximum Maintenance loan available to you.
  • You have been assessed by Student Finance England and have given consent for it to share your information with the University of Greenwich.
  • Your household income is below £25,000.
  • The bursary is only alliable to new entry students (year 0 or 1) and is not awarded in subsequent academic years.

How to apply

You do not need to apply for the Greenwich Accommodation Bursary.

This bursary is assessed and awarded automatically by the Student Fees and Funding Team after the close of registration in October 2024. The Accommodation Team will contact you within the first term if you are eligible.

Conditions

  • Part-time students must be taking at least 60 credits in their first year (Year 0 or 1). You receive a single payment of £350 in your first year. To receive a second payment, you must remain registered and in attendance on your course. See our general terms and conditions.

Students are permitted one scholarship or bursary per academic year at the highest value:

Exceptions:

  • The Greenwich Bursary and Accommodation Bursary
  • Current Care Leaver Bursary awardees

The Greenwich Hardship Fund and supporting funds (Digital Access, Energy Support Bill and Commuter Bursary) can still be applied for providing full eligibility terms are met.
