Women’s Higher Education Network (WHEN) Membership

TLDRoffon

We have joined WHEN as an institutional partner, making individual membership free for staff and providing access to WHEN’s events, social network and mentoring programme.

WHEN logoAs part of the university’s ongoing commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, we have joined the Women’s Higher Education Network (WHEN) as an institutional member. WHEN is dedicated to equity of opportunity for women in higher education. WHEN we refer to women, we include trans women and non-binary people who are comfortable in a female centred community.

WHEN and their ambitions

We are one of over 40 institutions in the UK who make up the WHEN network, whose aim is to represent at least 100 institutions by the end of the calendar year. By 2025, WHEN’s ambitions for the sector include:

  • 10 new female VCs appointed.
  • 100,000 women’s voices heard.
  • 100 black female professors in post.
  • 10,000 women connected.
  • 1,000 positive female career moves made.

Become a member of WHEN today, membership is free to all staff at Greenwich as we are an institutional partner. Members can access WHEN events, join their social network and register for the WHEN Mentoring programme.

WHEN Events

WHEN hold regular events to support women in higher education. Upcoming events include new member orientation, networking to share tips and for mothers with babies and toddlers, and a session on working with male allies.

Members can also access the Webinar Library, where recordings of previous sessions are available to view. Sessions in the library include Networking for Introverts, Working from Home and How to Say when it’s Not OK.

WHEN Social Network

WHEN’s online community space helps members to connect and stay in touch as we navigate increasingly challenging environments both at home and at work. The community brings us together with equally passionate people ready for something new. It travels beyond our individual roles and institutions and is propelled by the collective movement and voices of women, including trans women and non-binary people comfortable in a women centred community, in Higher Education supporting, sharing, uplifting and generating much needed change and progression.

WHEN Mentoring

WHEN aim to support 10,000 positive career moves for their members over the coming years and that's why they are running a mentoring scheme. Open to all members to join as mentors, mentees or both. You'll be given an introduction and you’ll receive an orientation before you join.

Find out more at this enrolment session on 2 March.

Development Programmes

WHEN also offer an extensive range of development programmes, which require institutional engagement and approval. Please contact the Learning and Development team for further information.
