We are delighted to announce that each of our campuses have been awarded with silver accreditation for Hedgehog Friendly Campus.
Hedgehogs are commonly voted as the UK’s favourite mammal, but unfortunately their population have declined by 50% since 2000.
Last year we achieved bronze accreditation status for all campuses and with the aim to continue the work to bring Hedgehogs back on our campuses, we aimed for Silver this year and we succeeded.
First reports of hedgehogs returning to our Avery Hill campus since 2006
Due to everyone’s hard work we have now had a sighting of a Hedgehog back on campus. A massive thank you to all students and staff that have been involved so far, you really have made a change.
Please remember
Hedgehogs are vulnerable to extinction and we want to do our best to protect the ones on our campuses. You are likely to only see them during early morning and evenings, if you do spot one please try not to disturb it. If you see one in distress please find a member of the grounds team as they have knowledge on how to help.
