The University of Greenwich is moving students and staff out of the Mansion Site in Avery Hill as part of a long-term project to improve teaching and learning facilities for students.
The sale of the site to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government was agreed in March last year and there are plans to develop it into a school for the Harris Federation.
The university is now planning a slightly longer, phased move out of the Mansion Site, which is likely to be completed by the end of August.
This timeframe means we will be ready for a new term in September and that we will minimise activity around important times for our students, such as the exam period. It also enables us to develop our original plans for the improved clinical labs space in the David Fussey building on the Southwood Site.
A spokesperson for the University said: "We are committed to our improvement plans, which include leaving the Mansion Site, and the new date for our final departure will not affect existing plans with the Department for Education and Harris Federation.
"Updates on the development of the Avery Hill campus will be shared with the community around Avery Hill and there will also be events to celebrate and mark the University's time at the Mansion Site. More details will be published shortly.
"The Winter Garden is not part of this sale and we continue to discuss its future with the Royal Borough of Greenwich and to comply with our legal and statutory duties for the site."
