UCU strike action: Our university remains open

TLDRoffon

The university will be open as normal on strike days and many of your timetabled activities will take place as usual. The majority of staff are not taking strike action.

The university has been notified by the University and College Union (UCU), one of the four recognised trade unions that represent university staff, that they plan to take strike action as part of a national dispute over pay and working conditions.

The university will be open as normal on strike days and many of your timetabled activities will take place as usual. The majority of staff are not taking strike action.

The dates for the strike action are 28 to 31 March and 1 April 2022. The previously notified ‘action short of strike’ (ASOS), starting 1 December 2021 and ending no later than 3 May 2022 remains in place. This means staff participating in the action will be working to their contracted hours and duties.

We know the pandemic has been challenging for you and appreciate this strike action may cause you some concern. The university will do everything possible to minimise the impact of the strike action on you and ensure you are supported throughout. It is important for you to know that not all academic staff at Greenwich will be taking part in this industrial action, and our university campuses will remain open.

We hope to run as many of the timetabled teaching sessions as possible. Our libraries and learning spaces including computer laboratories, student centres, the university bus service and social facilities will be available for you to use as usual.

We will keep you updated and publish information and answers to your frequently asked questions on the portal, and the GSU have also published information to help and support you.
