Sponsored by The 02, the University of Greenwich was awarded the Greener Greenwich award.

The award “celebrates organisations that are taking an active role in tackling the climate crisis and improving environmental sustainability. The award recognises those businesses that are working hard to reduce their carbon footprint and environmental impact.”

The university was involved in the awards in multiple ways. Dr Hetty Sun, Associate Professor and Associate Head of the Executive Business Centre, Research and Knowledge Exchange at the Greenwich Business School was a judge for the awards.

The university also sponsored the Entrepreneur – Under 30 category. The award for Entrepreneur – Under 30 went to digital womenswear fashion label, TULASI, that specialises in creating garments to wear in real life as well as on digital avatars so they also exist in virtual environments

Prof Jane Harrington, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of the University of Greenwich said:

“We are delighted to have won the Greener Greenwich award. Sustainability is at the core of our mission and so it is rewarding to have the hard work of so many at the university recognised as part of this award.

“We are also proud to support the awards. The university is entrenched in the local community and our commitment to fostering entrepreneurship in the borough is reflected by our sponsorship of the Entrepreneur – Under 30 award. Congratulations to all the nominees, and a special congratulations to TULASI, a very worthy winner.”
