The Mentimeter @ Greenwich Digest #8 – Special New AI Features Edition

TLDRoffon

What’s new and useful in Mentimeter by Gerhard Kristandl

It's time for another Mentimeter Digest, and this one's quite important! Mentimeter has recently introduced two new AI features that are now available to us at Greenwich. Read on to see a video on how to use them, and find out how to use them safely.

New AI Features in Mentimeter

AI Menti Builder

This tool generates draft presentations based on your input (prompt). You give it a topic and presentation type, and it creates a starting point for you. Find out more about AI slide generation here.

AI Grouping

This feature automatically categorises responses to open-ended questions, helping you spot common themes in your audience's input. Find out more about group responses here.

If you want to see these features in action, watch my video on Panopto: NEW AI FEATURES IN MENTIMETER FOR GREENWICH

IMPORTANT: What you need to know about the data shared with OpenAI

For both features: Data submitted by Mentimeter to OpenAI will not be used to train OpenAI’s algorithm!

AI Grouping Feature

Data is only sent from Mentis where AI features are used in.

Data is NOT sent from existing Mentis.

The relevant question where the Grouping Feature is applied to, and its outcome, are shared with OpenAI.

The prompt and generated Menti presentation is stored, but not an updated version of the generated Menti (so if you make changes – these are not shared).

Original Mentis shared with OpenAI will be deleted on their servers after approximately 30 days.

Responses are not stored.

EVEN MORE IMPORTANT: Using these AI features safely

These new AI-powered features will certainly help many of you to create even more engaging presentations with Mentimeter, but regardless of the safety measures, we need to use the new features carefully to continue providing safe classroom environments for your audience (students, colleagues, participants) and you. So please remember:

  • BE creative and have fun with these really nifty new features

However:

  • DO NOT input - or generate questions that ask your participants to input - personal or sensitive information!

Stuck and need help on your Mentimeter presentation?

Do not fear! You can either use the Mentimeter Live Chat directly from within your Mentimeter page (bottom-right), contact me (Gerhard) via Teams direct message, and/or consult the advice and answers page from the Mentimeter Team.
