Curriculum Shape is a vital part of our Student Success Sub Strategy.
Curriculum Shape encompasses the development of a new Greenwich Curriculum Framework and Assessment and Feedback policy. It also advances significant process and system improvements including a new Curriculum Management Tool and enhanced quality assurances processes and governance.
Over recent months, we have made significant progress on the work on our new Greenwich Curriculum Framework.
Our Provost and DVC, Professor Vanessa Lemm, together with Professor Jenny Marie and Louise Woodcock, have worked with colleagues in all Faculties and Directorates to develop a new Curriculum Framework for Greenwich.
The team has also met with GSU representatives and students to ensure their feedback is incorporated into our activities.
What the new Greenwich Curriculum Framework means for students and staff
The new Greenwich Curriculum Framework sets out our approach to providing a career-ready curriculum; putting students at the heart of how programmes are designed and taught, and our commitment to ensuring that every student experiences consistent structures and scaffolded learning.
The new Greenwich Curriculum Framework will help to enhance our students’ experience, reduce potential for stress and help them develop relevant skills and knowledge.
There will also be benefits for staff, including more interesting teaching, increased interdisciplinary collaboration, motivated students, fewer Moodle pages/handbooks and a chance to spread marking.
The new Greenwich Curriculum Framework will support our students to thrive while they are with us at Greenwich, and ensure they are ready for their next step, whether that is work or further study.
Curriculum Management Tool
Our new curriculum management system will simplify curriculum management processes and support curriculum design and innovation. Visit our curriculum management project page for updates and information, including FAQs.
A hub for information
Due to the scale of the work taking place, we will have a dedicated space on the Staff Portal for all things Curriculum Shape under our Strategy 2030 Projects section.
The space will provide a home for all information including the draft Greenwich Curriculum Framework and Assessment and Feedback Policy documents, you will also be able to review FAQs and keep track on our progress.
We will also add details of the ten pilot programmes that we will be developing over the coming months.
How to get involved
There will also be opportunities for staff to get involved via secondments and chances to feed into the programme design. Current opportunities include secondments to provide academic leadership for embedding employability in the curriculum, an interim project manager and fixed term roles to support our work with faculties and schools on implementation plans. Further details are available from the university internal vacancies page.
The dedicated space on the portal will have all the latest information.
Next Steps
The Greenwich Curriculum Framework and associated Assessment and Feedback Policy has now been approved by Academic Council.
There’s a lot going on and while change can be unsettling for some, we’re committed to keeping you updated, sharing progress, listening to your views and provide opportunities for you to get involved.
