Sustainable Development Goals: meet Dr Omo Ojo

Across our university community we work to support the UNs Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We are asking students and staff to share their work contributing to the SDGs.

Profile image of Dr Omo OjoDr Omo Ojo is an Associate Professor in Diabetes Care and Management and Practice Lead at the Centre for Chronic Illness and Ageing at the Institute for Lifecourse Development (ILD).

Contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals:

Omo's work supports SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-being.

Diabetes Care and Management

Dr Ojo is an internationally acclaimed expert in nutrition and diabetes, as well as in dementia. He has published widely in these areas and his articles are widely cited internationally and is the leader of the International Nutrition and Diabetes Research Group with members drawn from the UK, China and Nigeria. He is on the Editorial Board of international journals including 'Nutrients'.

His health-related work has included enteral feeding, improvement in wound dressings, menopause prehabilitation, and cost-effectiveness studies involving diabetes and COVID-19.

His work has been used in work by organizations including the American Diabetes Association, the International Special Dietary Foods Industries, and the Irish Hospice Foundation. He has provided expert support to partners including Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.
