What is the TEF
The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) is a national scheme run by the Office for Students (OfS) that aims to encourage higher education providers to improve and deliver excellence in the areas that students care about the most: the student experience (e.g. teaching, resources, support) and student outcomes (whether students gain a degree and go on to managerial or professional employment, or further study).
The TEF does this by assessing and rating universities and colleges for how well embedded an excellent student experience, tailored to meet the needs of our students, is across the institution and how effective practices are in delivering exceptional student outcomes.
TEF and Student Success
TEF is identified in our This is our Time – Strategy 2030 as a key indicator to meeting our Strategy Priority 1 – Student Success. By 2030 we want to raise our current Silver rating to Gold (or equivalent). The delivery of our TEF submission highlights the good work that is already occurring across the institution and sets out the direction of education over the coming 7 years to become a Gold TEF institution by 2030.
