Professor Andrew Westby named new Deputy Vice-Chancellor at University of Greenwich

The University of Greenwich has announced that from the 1 April Professor Andrew Westby has agreed to take up the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Knowledge Exchange). Professor Westby is a distinguished international food scientist, and has led the Natural Resources Institute (NRI) for over 12 years.9016

During this time the NRI has grown significantly, cementing its place as an world leading research institute, winning its second and third Queen’s Anniversary Prizes, and becoming the first institute in a modern university to run a doctoral training centre (led by Professor Westby). Over the last nine months, Professor Westby has been working alongside Professor Javier Bonet and has been responsible for developing the research and knowledge exchange sub-strategy.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jane Harrington said:

“I am delighted that Andrew will be joining my senior team and implementing our ambitious research and knowledge exchange strategy. I am also really pleased that Professor Ben Bennett, the current Deputy Director of NRI, has agreed to step up to the role of interim Director of NRI.”
