Finding Quality Sources: We will answer questions such as “what kind of sources can be used in essays?” and “where do we find relevant sources of information?”
Effective use of databases: we will share techniques and tools for retrieving relevant publications using databases including planning a search, database sources, assessing and locating material.
Referencing and avoiding plagiarism: how to reference sources using the Harvard system, and write ideas in your own words to avoid plagiarism.
Referencing Surgery: an introduction to the Harvard reference system.
Paraphrasing: what is paraphrasing, how to paraphrase effectively and building a coherent argument.
Foundations for Academic Integrity: an in-depth look at online exams, plagiarism and paraphrasing, co-hosted with colleagues from the Faculty of Engineering and Science.
Extended one-to-ones and Later in the Library
We have extended our one-to-one tutorials with more staff available to help you in our Quick Stop Support drop-ins. You can book a one-to-one tutorial with an academic skills tutor, subject librarian or digital champion who can provide support with assignments, preparing for exams, or writing your dissertation.
