"On results day 2019 I decided to choose the University of Greenwich because of the really pleasant experience I had on the phone during UCAS Clearing and also because the course was accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry, which was very important to me.
"What makes Greenwich different is definitely the course size. My course size is relatively small compared to the same courses at other universities, which scared me initially, but I realised it's a blessing!
"I am able to have more one-to-one time with my tutors and lecturers, meaning I can ask questions without feeling insecure and get more out of my degree."
Holly wasn't sure what she wanted to do when she was younger, and as chemistry interested her the most out of her A level subjects, she decided to pursue it at degree level.
She added: "I have lived in the UK for about eleven years now so I am a UK student, however I was born in Ireland and I am half Malaysian, and one of the nice things about Greenwich is that it is incredibly diverse.
"Last year I lived on campus at Medway, and I would recommend it to anyone as I have met some wonderful friends that I am certain I'll have for life."
Holly is also one of 350 student ambassadors employed by the university to work part time around their students.
Holly added: "Becoming a student ambassador massively helped my confidence. I wouldn't say I was a shy person before, but I did not like being put out of my comfort zone. The roles that I have been employed for have continuously put me out of my comfort zone and made me realise we shouldn't just stick to things we are comfortable with!"
Holly has worked at careers fair and an open day, helping potential future students with questions they have about the Chemistry.
"After I graduate I hope to go on to further study in the dentistry field which has been an area of interest I had for a while - especially the chemistry behind dental procedures, like the building of polymers needed for cosmetic procedures as well as how fluoride helps to clean teeth.
For Holly, developing her lab skills has been the highlight of her course so far, as the facilities have been much better than those in a classroom.
She said: "When I first did an experiment at uni I was a little overwhelmed! Group assignments have also been a highlight and really taught me some valuable skills like teamwork and patience.
Holly feels lucky to have secured work experience in a dental materials lab next summer, postponed this year due to covid-19 and is loving her time at Medway.
She said: "The Medway campus is easy to navigate your way around and there are plenty of meeting/hang out spots where you can catch up with friends. Also I love that the campus has direct links into London, which makes for great days out.
"I do believe that Medway Campus makes making friends easy, because of all the events continually happening in the student hub, and also the social media groups allowed me to find a few people I thought I had similar interests in and lead to amazing friends and experiences."
