A walk-through coronavirus testing facility is to open at the University of Greenwich Medway campus in Chatham.

The testing site is located in front of the Jellicoe Building car park. Anyone attending an appointment at a walk-through testing will be provided with guidance on getting to and from the test site safely.

Professor Jane Harrington, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Greenwich said: "As a university, we are taking every possible step to ensure our campuses are covid-safe for our students and our staff. We are pleased to host a testing centre on our Medway Campus to support our local community in Medway and play a part in the national effort to tackle covid-19."

Everyone who attends the testing centre must follow a strict set of rules including following social distancing, practising good personal hygiene, not travelling by taxi or public transport and wearing a face covering throughout. There will be clear signage that directs those coming to the testing centre to move around the location in a socially distance manner and they will be directed to leave as soon as they are finished.

The opening times for the testing centre are as follows:

Thursday 2pm to 5pm

Friday 10am to 5pm

Saturday 8am to 8pm

The university is committed to keeping everyone on all three of its campuses at all times and has made significant changes to each campus to do so. By having an on-site testing facility at Medway, the university is affirming its commitment to go do all it can do to help in the national effort during this year's pandemic.

University staff have volunteered their time and experience in a number of different ways during the pandemic including returning to volunteer for the NHS.

Anyone with coronavirus symptoms, however mild, can get a free swab test that takes less than a minute. Tests should be booked or ordered as soon as symptoms begin at nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119 and you can expect your result the next day.
