Join Director of the Californian Innocence Project, Justin Brooks, in conversation to raise awareness for Wrongful Conviction Day 2020

Hosted by the Innocence Project London, and the UoG Miscarriages of Justice Society, Justin will be talking about exonerating Brian Banks, a promising American footballer who was wrongfully accused of rape.

The story of Brian Banks was recently told in the form of a 2018 feature film. During his talk, Justin will play scenes from the film and talk about the real life scenario that led to Brian being exonerated.

In 2002, seventeen-year-old Brian Banks was wrongfully convicted of rape. At the time of his conviction, Banks was a high school football player destined for a career in professional sports at the highest level. Banks served five years in prison but on Thursday, May 24, 2012, Judge Mark C. Kim of the Los Angeles Superior Court reversed Banks' conviction and ended any record of his wrongful conviction
