About Circular Greenwich
The Circular Greenwich Festival is a pop-up, currently based in Dreadnought, where sustainable consumption practices and knowledge is shared and promoted with a view to providing solutions which can be easily replicated and action at collective and individual level.
This is done through the Clothes Swap
The Clothes Swap provides individuals with the opportunity to swap their pre-loved clothing with marbles and on the swap day, those marbles can be exchanged for any item of pre-loved clothing, depending on the number of marbles the item is valued at.
In summary, the Circular Greenwich Festival intends to create a space in the minds of the Greenwich community for mobilising towards the reduction of waste and improvement of our collective and individual consumption patterns to ensure a sustainable future for our community. After all, our community is the spark that will light the way toward action on climate change, on labour exploitation, on environmental degradation and towards the promise of a sustainable world for future generations
The activities of the Sustainable Clothes Station will be based on the research undertaken by BHRE and partners.
How it works
The hub will showcase its work through the clothes swap. The Clothes Swap provides individuals with the opportunity to swap their pre-loved clothing for marbles during the Hub's collection and drop off dates. On the swap day, those marbles can be exchanged for any item of pre-loved clothing, depending on the number of marbles the item is valued at. The grading system works as follows:
Luxury items in excellent condition (4 marbles), top high street brands in good condition (3 marbles) lower end high street brands in good condition ( 2 marbles), no brand in good condition (1 marble).
