Following the recent change in Government advice, the interim travel policy has been updated as follows:
- Travel to countries/territories not on the Red list is permitted without restriction, but subject to the government’s foreign travel advice in the usual way.
- Such travel must be in compliance with the Code of Practice for Off Campus Activities.
- All travel for university business must be arranged and booked via the university’s approved Travel Management Services Agents and in accordance with the Travel Policy (including financial approval, a risk assessment and use of the University Travel Insurance scheme). This includes checking both at the time of booking and on the day of travel that the FCDO does not advise against all travel to the destination.
- You must abide by rules in place for quarantine, testing etc. at your destination, and must also follow government guidelines on your return to the UK. This includes any quarantine, self-isolation and testing requirements that may be imposed before your return to the UK.
- Travel to countries/territories on the Red list is only permitted where any viable digital/remote alternative is clearly unsuitable. Overseas travel to Red list countries needs to be approved by PVC/Director, COO and the University Secretary (following input from International Office, Insurance team (insurance@greenwich.ac.uk) and Safety Unit) and a full, comprehensive risk assessment needs to be undertaken prior to bookings being made. Staff must comply with any quarantine/self-isolation regulations on their return to the UK.
- Reasonable costs for pre- and post-flight tests required for travel on University business may be claimed back via the expenses system in the usual way.
- University staff based overseas should follow regulations of the country in which they are based.
This travel policy will be updated and circulated periodically in line with Government advice.
