Green Greenwich: measuring our impact and what’s next

TLDRoffon

Following the launch of our Green Greenwich campaign in February, we are continuing to share our commitment to a sustainable future for all with further activities and ways to get involved planned over the next 12 months.

Thank you to everyone who attended our events during Green Greenwich month – we hope you enjoyed learning more about sustainability at Greenwich.

Green Greenwich launch in February

February marked the launch of our Green Greenwich campaign, to celebrate and elevate our sustainability achievements while committing to embedding our strategic goals across the university.

As part of this work, the University of Greenwich website went green, and we launched newly created dedicated sustainability pages.

In addition to the website take over, a new course referrer has been developed, positioned on the home page and a full width feature on the sustainability page. The course referrer showcases over 50 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes which now include a sustainability focus, adding sustainability into the curriculum, enabling graduates to enter the growing workforce in the green sector.

The Sustainability Team also hosted a programme of events for students and staff to learn about climate literacy, our Edible Garden, and more.

Our impact and what’s next

The impact of the campaign has been impressive, with engagement across our internal and external audiences.

During the first few weeks, the campaign had potential engagements of over 11,000 internally and over 289,000 externally through the website, email marketing, PR, social media and staff and students' events.

The website has seen 724 views to home page and the newly developed sustainability page during the first week of the campaign, while 3 new business leads have been generated via the alumni team and 32 expressions of interest for the alumni sustainability network.

34 members of staff have also signed up to the Green Pledge and 9 new Green Champions have enrolled, taking the total number of Green Champions across the university to 78.

We aim to build on this momentum to continue to measure success and will be sharing more ways for staff and students to get involved in the coming months.

This work will continue to be embedded across the university with the support of the MER Directorate and the Sustainability Team.
