Over the past several years, the Higher Education sector has undergone profound changes, which the university has been able to navigate successfully. During David's tenure, there have been significant increases in the university's entry standards, degree outcomes and graduate employment levels, which underpinned the award of a TEF Silver rating and the highest average position for the university across all three tables in the modern league table era.
The excellence in widening student access has continued whilst maintaining good levels of student registrations. The volume of research output has more than doubled and several major prizes have been awarded which demonstrate the quality of the University of Greenwich's work.
David has overseen the development of the Stockwell Street building, the Daniel Defoe Halls of Residence, Avery Hill sports facilities, the Medway student hub, Dreadnought, the introduction of our International College and, most recently, the transformation of the Cooper Building into the Powerhouse.
Marianne Ismail, Chair of the Governing Body says:
On behalf of the Governing Body, we would like to take the opportunity to thank David for all his hard work over the last eight years. We truly appreciate the dedication and commitment he has shown in the development of the University of Greenwich.
Everyone at Greenwich wishes David a long and happy retirement.
