A commitment to researchers has seen the University of Greenwich retain the European Commission's HR Excellence in Research Award.

The university received this accolade for its continued work in improving the working conditions and career development of researchers. The basis for this accreditation is regular critical reviews of progress.

Poppy Gibson, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences, said: "The research support has been incredible here at Greenwich. I have particularly enjoyed the annual celebration days, offering researchers the opportunity to showcase posters of their work. The Research & Enterprise Training Institute (RETI) has encouraged me to keep contemporary practice and research at the heart of all I do, and I believe this makes me a better lecturer for it.

"I was delighted to be enrolled on the AURORA women in leadership programme through Greenwich. This helped develop my confidence in the Higher Education setting, as well as providing me with a valuable network of strong women to offer advice as I continue my career at the university."

ZIhator Brown, postgraduate research student Faculty of Business, added: "RETI, had a significate impact on the development of my presentation and research skills. Their workshops have improved my understanding of how other researchers in the same field carry out their research. I was able to see different perspectives, methods, and way of presenting research. As a part of my journey, I have founded a new academic Doctoral Society."

Luigi Palumbo, Postgraduate student in the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences said: "The niversity  has constantly shown the greatest commitment to the development of its postgraduate students' community by means of the RETI mandatory and optional training programmes."

Rania Hassan, Postgraduate student in the Faculty of Engineering and Scicence, added: "The research culture at the university is extremely supportive, with plenty of opportunities for doctoral students to develop essential research skills. I have learned how to communicate more effectively, to think more critically and to be more resourceful in my approach. RETI offers an excellent range of training sessions, which are always packed with expert advice and tips on ways to improve."
