Charlton Athletic coach and Greenwich staff deliver presentation to prospective Sport students

Late last December, Charlton Athletic Football Club (CAFC) coach Vincent Lee and Senior Lecturer in PE & Sport, Samuel Coombs, hosted a talk to Physical Education and Sport Science applicants on athlete development.

Senior Lecturer, Sports Science and Coaching lecturer Mark Chapman was involved with Q&As, giving prospective students a chance to find out all they wanted to know about the courses.

Senior Lecturer in PE & Sport Samuel Coombes said: “Having developed a fantastic relationship with CAFC and in particular Youth Development Phase Coach Vincent Lee (U12-U16), we have been able to share best practice around long-term athlete development and how it applies to youth team players at CAFC. Our expertise has recently been shared with potential local sixth formers looking towards future careers in PE and Sport.”

Charlton Athletic coach Vincent Lee ran through a detailed presentation showing prospective students the key aspects of the Charlton training philosophy and how they looking to continue to develop future first-teamers.

The University of Greenwich’s vital partnership with the Charlton Athletic Charitable Trust (CACT) allows for the sharing of expertise, research and facilities in addition to developing internships, employment and other opportunities for students.
