Over the past 10 years, the Barclays Mock Assessment Centre has helped over 500 to students to be more career-confident and feel prepared to go into a real-life assessment centre.

This partnership goes beyond being just a program; it embodies a shared commitment to empowering University of Greenwich students with the skills and confidence needed to excel in the competitive professional landscape. To celebrate the program's success, the university proudly recognises the countless success stories of students who have benefited from this initiative.

On 14 November the Mock Assessment Centre had a record number of in-person student attendees, reinforcing the growing need to bridge the gap between academia and the corporate world.

The university would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Mark Moran and the whole Barclays team who have been crucial throughout the years and offered their expertise to UoG students.

Mark Moran, Head of Mid-Corporate, South East said:

“Barclays is committed to building a stronger and more inclusive economy that’s better for everyone, which is why we’re unlocking skills and employment opportunities in our communities.”

“We have a longstanding relationship with the University of Greenwich and we are delighted to have supported students from diverse communities through volunteering.  The November 2023 event will see around 100 undergraduates receive the preparation and support they need from Barclays colleagues, to build their confidence and ultimately improve their employability chances.”

Peter Taylor, Chief Operating Officer at the University of Greenwich:

“The University of Greenwich has been delighted to partner with Barclays over the last 10 years. Many cohorts of students have had the opportunity to learn and build confidence through the mock assessment centre’s that Barclays have facilitated.

"We have also appreciated Barclays support for student mentoring and offering opportunities to experience their professional environments across banking and finance.

"Greenwich is passionate about delivering degree programmes which empower students to get fulfilling graduate careers following their studies, and Barclays continue to be a valued partner of ours in this pursuit.”

Menah Usman, a former University of Greenwich student who took part in last year's assessment said:

"My experience at Barclay's mock assessment centre was very helpful for me to land my future job opportunities. It helped increase my confidence. I referred to my experience in my interviews that helped me secure an internship at a private equity firm."

Special thanks to Hester Burnige, Kata Budai, Mark Moran and Jamie Nadin who made this year's event possible.
