Find out more about our Faculty of Engineering and Science at the University of Greenwich, home to our courses in science, computing, engineering and mathematics.

Beautiful locations with great facilities

The university’s Faculty of Engineering and Science is split across the Greenwich Campus in Greenwich, London, and the Medway Campus in Chatham, Kent. The university’s School of Science, School of Engineering, Natural Resources Institute and Medway School of Pharmacy are based at Medway, while the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences and most of the university’s construction courses are based at Greenwich. London is consistently ranked as the best student city in the world (QS Top Universities, Best Student Cities, 2022 and 2023), while Medway is a unique location that has direct transport links to Central London as well as the Kent countryside and Great British Coast.

Both campuses have a rich history behind them and have been used as filming locations for big films and TV shows. Excellent facilities including laboratories and workshops can be found at Medway, while advanced computer labs complement games and computing teaching on the Greenwich Campus. The Faculty is also always investing, with brand new equipment being purchased this year to underpin teaching in mechanical engineering, while a newly built food lab will support teaching in food science and safety.

Connecting the two campuses is the university’s inter-campus bus service, which means Faculty of Engineering and Science students can make the most of facilities and opportunities at both campuses. Both campuses have 24/7 security and on-site accommodation.

Greenwich is the best university in the UK

The University of Greenwich currently ranks as the best university in the UK (StudentCrowd University Awards, 2023). Student satisfaction for many Faculty of Engineering and Science courses has been noteworthy, including forensic science and civil engineering, and many graduates have gone on to share their stories about Greenwich and the careers they have today.

The different ideas, approaches to solving issues and methods of collaboration during lectures have greatly impacted my personal life and how I interact with people from different walks of life daily.
Stephen Bonsu, MSc Engineering Management graduate 2014, Mechanical Core Technologies Engineer (Product Operations)

The Faculty also boasts a strong reputation for research, which students can get involved with, for example Associate Head of School of Science Professor Joshua Boateng has supervised project students interested in his research into drug delivery technologies. Students are encouraged to enhance their employability skills by taking advantage of the university’s Employability and Careers Service or Student Ambassador Scheme, or by attending events throughout the year including careers fairs, expert-led lectures and networking and industry events. Students can also embark upon a placement year.

Lecturers make you aware of opportunities happening on-campus or elsewhere that will help you become more employable and set you apart from other graduates elsewhere.
Sophie Sherlock, BSc Mathematics graduate 2021, Operational Research Analyst

Inclusivity is a key Greenwich value

One of the key values of the University of Greenwich is inclusivity. Students have praised the inclusivity they have witnessed and have valued being a part of the welcoming, culturally diverse community of staff and students at Greenwich.

At the University of Greenwich, we care about our students. I can speak to my lecturers. We have STAART. We have friendliness. Vice-Chancellor Professor Jane Harrington is a big advocate for inclusion.
Bradley Corey, Biology graduate 2019, PhD in Science student, Enterprise Challenge winner (social category), 2021
