Earn while you learn as a Student Ambassador
From their first day with us, University of Greenwich students can apply to its Student Ambassador Scheme. The university currently has around 350 students registered in the scheme. Ambassadors can work in paid roles to support university events and processes. Students can select the shifts they would like to work from vacancies from departments across the university, meaning they can target the work that most appeals to them and their unique skillsets. This also means they can choose the shifts that work best around their studies and other commitments.
As well as supporting campus events such as Careers Fairs and Open Days, there are also opportunities to support the university with activities happening off-campus.
I have had the opportunity to work as a student ambassador, representing the university at higher education fairs.

Develop your skills and boost your employability
Many ambassadors have praised the skills they have developed while working under the scheme. Students gain essential work experience they can take forwards into their careers, honing skills such as timekeeping, teamworking and customer service. Roles are varied and dependent on vacancies across the department, and many opportunities may lead students to connect with staff, students and even industry professionals that they may not otherwise have had contact with.
The student jobs I'm presently engaged in have greatly helped me in developing my technical knowledge, strengthening my communication skills, and teamwork, all of which I believe will be highly valuable in my future… I also get a chance to be a part of networking events with people relevant to the field of my major.

In the Faculty of Engineering and Science, for example, teams of ambassadors have supported the university’s interactive STEM stand for the last two years at a popular gaming and technology festival, Medway Rapture Gaming and Creative Festival. It’s a fun event offering plenty of opportunities for networking with the many guests and industry professionals in attendance.
Step out of your comfort zone with unique opportunities
Open Days also provide a valuable learning experience for Faculty Student Ambassadors. In these roles, students speak to guests about their course and experiences as University of Greenwich students, and also assist the lecturers on their course with subject sessions. It’s a unique opportunity to use their knowledge and experiences to promote their course and inspire new students.
Open Days are a great opportunity to share your experience and show people how enjoyable game development can be.

The Faculty Marketing Team are also always looking for keen ambassadors to share their stories for articles, videos and more to highlight the fantastic work being done across its STEM courses. Students can also apply to become STAART Ambassadors, working to support the university's initiative supporting disabled and diverse students.
Recruitment cycles for the Student Ambassador Scheme take place throughout the year and students can keep an eye on our website for more details.
