University of Greenwich Adult Nursing student wins Student of the Year award

TLDRoffon

Congratulations to Ning Tsz Tse (Cherry) who has just won the Pre-Registration Student of the Year Award at the Annual Staff Awards 2022 at the Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust.

University of Greenwich BSc Hons Adult Nursing student Cherry was nominated by Lisa Tritton, Clinical Skills Coach/Practice Placement Facilitator at Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust. In her nomination Lisa says “Cherry is now in her third year and is on her final management placement. Throughout her three years as a student Cherry has been professional and approached every placement with positivity and keenness to learn; she has not only taken every opportunity but also looked for other experiences to enhance her own learning. She has also been willing to share this with other students to enhance their learning too. Cherry is willing to share her own experiences and support others to learn and develop.”

“She has regularly attended education sessions put on within the trust, including simulation and is always a very professional presence who is able to participate and share ideas and suggestions.”

“Cherry has been a support to her colleagues within her own cohort, not being afraid to raise questions or concerns they have as a group and has often been the spokesperson for them all to myself when there are things that need raising or questions that need answering. She has organised education/learning sessions that have helped her peers to develop and learn. I know she has also been a great support to others in her cohort who do not have placements within the Trust. Cherry does not shy away from trying to help or find an answer.”

“She has been a great support to other students, especially new students and has attended their inductions and given them advice and support - her advice is always very practical, and she has a way of making them feel at ease and able to ask her questions. She demonstrates kindness and compassion to other students, which I am sure she also gives to her patients.”

“I believe that Cherry is an asset to any team and will be an asset as a registered nurse once she qualifies, and I am pleased to say that she has accepted a position within the Trust."

After receiving her award Cherry says “It is a tremendous honour to have been awarded a "Pre-registration Student of The Year" from Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust. I was shocked but grateful. I collected it the day before my birthday (for sure, it was one of the best birthday presents I have received).”

“I have been extremely fortunate to have met so many competent and brilliant practice assessors, practice supervisors, mentors, and supportive Darent Valley Hospital (DVH) DVH and Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup QMH staffs in D&G NHS Trust. They all shared their knowledge, best practices, and clinical skills with me. Thanks to every single one of you who has supported me and helped me throughout the last three years of training in D&G.”

“I am glad that pre-reg students' work was recognised by the Trust. Thank you for the nomination from Lisa! Without you, I won't be there in the first place. To all the great people in the Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust, thank you for the support that you provided to all the students (not only for nursing students but also for NA, OT, PT, Medical, ODP, Midwifery, dietitian, radiographer students) to ensure we have great learning opportunities and experiences.”

Many congratulations once again to Cherry!!
