TLDRoffon

Course leader Marlon Stiell talks us through the new Master’s course.

MA Physician course

“The new MSc Physician Associate provides you with the opportunity to develop the necessary clinical competencies and work as part of a wider multi-disciplinary healthcare team, practicing under the supervision of a doctor to provide care for patients in a range of clinical settings.

This Master’s and the Physician Associate Degree Apprenticeship is developed in line with both the professional standards and curriculum as set by the Faculty of Physician Associates, and the General Medical Council. Both courses are designed for those with a background in life, health and biomedical sciences who are interested in a career in healthcare.

Our Physician Associate MSc Degree Apprenticeship is one of only three programmes in England. Both routes are designed to prepare and support learners to develop and build on existing skills, knowledge and clinical capabilities required to pass the Physician Associate National Examinations exam.

You will have the opportunity to practice and develop clinical competencies within the University’s state-of-the-art simulation facilities. These facilities include realistic mannikins, spaces which mirror hospital, primary and community settings.

An integral part of developing these skills are clinical placements where you will be able to interact with patients whilst under supervision. There will also be the opportunity to explore the wider context of health within the UK and to develop your understanding of global and international approaches to health, well-being, and the prevention of ill-health.

If you are seeking to work or develop your career in healthcare, this course can support and develop your understanding of patient assessment and management. You will be able to learn from experienced educators and peers on a course which is inclusive, provides the environment to support your academic journey into healthcare and aligns to the professional development of prospective Physician Associates."
