Thursday, October the 1st was a very special day for Professor Rosana Pacella, Director of the ILD and her colleagues, as it was exactly a year ago since they launched The Institute for Lifecourse Development.
The Institute for Lifecourse Development (ILD) is a research institute with six individual centres that examine sustainable lifecourse solutions and how to tackle some of the most significant challenges society faces. Professionals from related fields work closely together with researchers and stakeholders from public, charitable and voluntary organisations in order to achieve this.
The online event was opened by Professor Jane Harrington the Vice Chancellor of the University of Greenwich who remarked that it had been an exciting year for the ILD and that the existence of the institute is "crucial to tackle issues" that society face.
Professor Derek Moore, Pro Vice Chancellor for Education, Health and Human Sciences used his slot to congratulate Rosana and team on doing a "fabulous job". Derick explained that he had a vision many years ago for the ILD and now, on their one year anniversary, feels like a "proud parent" of a "walking and talking child."
There were many other speakers during the evening event that began at 5pm and lasted over two hours. Attendees got to hear about:
The partnership between the ILD and Second Wave Centre for Youth Arts. This was followed by speeches from Professor Jill Jameson, Dr Fernando Naclerio Ayllon, Professor Josh Davis, Dr Mark Goss-Sampson and Dr Lesley Dibley who spoke about the Impact of ILD Research and Practice. Dr Maria Arche, Associate Professor of Linguistics and Spanish then took us through the collaboration between CREL and the ILD. PGR Student Ryan Jenkins showcased some of his work and finally Dr Marialivia Bernardi & Dr Theo Gkinopoulos spoke about ECR Research and Practice.
