What do you think makes the University of Greenwich stand out?
I believe the University of Greenwich stands out as one of the top modern universities in the UK. Situated along the scenic banks of the River Thames, its historic campus offers a remarkable view. What sets it apart is its proximity to Canary Wharf, a key business hub in the UK. This location provides students with invaluable opportunities for networking, enhancing employability prospects, and immersing themselves in diverse cultural experiences. Furthermore, the University has an excellent employability service that has assisted me in securing a placement and, currently, a graduate job.
Which course did you study at Greenwich?
I completed my Master’s in Business Administration, specialising in International Business at the University of Greenwich. Pursuing MBA was an instinctive decision for me after completing my Bachelor's degree. Amongst 19 universities, I opted for the University of Greenwich primarily because it offers MBA programs without requiring prior work experience, coupled with the opportunity to undertake a placement year alongside studies. I chose International Business as the course structure appealed to my preferences for learning. This specialisation focused on understanding business strategy and management practices.
What are the three best things about your course?
MBA International Business integrates a year-long placement alongside academic studies. This placement not only allows for the development of technical and transferrable skills but also offers invaluable insights into the chosen career sector. This practical experience has undoubtedly given me a competitive edge in the graduate job market. Secondly, the programme has taught me how to manage across multiple cultures, which in fact, is my favourite module. When working with a multi-national organisation, understanding the cultural behaviours and complexities are extremely important. This module has helped me to understand and develop people skills across various cultures. Lastly, the course serves as a solid foundation for a career in management and administration. It provides a comprehensive understanding of international business finance, accounting, strategies, and sustainability, which are fundamental concepts for any aspiring business management professional. Overall, these aspects make the MBA in International Business a valuable steppingstone towards achieving career goals in the field of management and administration.
How has your course helped develop your passion? What are your plans for the future?
The MBA International Business programme has been pivotal in nurturing my passion for business management. However, it was the year-long industrial placement that truly ignited my desire to become a leader and learn more about the management process. Today, I am eager to further develop my management and interpersonal skills, enabling me to navigate complex situations with a holistic approach and effectively interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Moreover, I am aiming to practice leadership potential by critically reflecting on my experiences, mastering self-management, effectively leading others, and gaining a deeper understanding of business dynamics.
